I’m looking for: * Proper sticky notes on the desktop * Works on Linux, MacOS and Windows (and bonus if mobile too) * Open source but worst case freeware. GloboNotes includes the kitchen sync for features but is a database and is Freeware and not open source, whilst Pin ‘Em Up is open source and XML format, but is very bare bones with no text formatting, and has had no updates for 7 years. So I have found two Java apps that are Windows, MacOS and Linux but no mobile clients, and neither do they actually handle concurrent multi-client syncing. Notezilla is halfway there for Windows and iOS and Android, but no Linux or MacOS. There was a great solution like this called Cloud Sticky Notes that synced to Amazon Cloud but the site is now unavailable. These notes are saved as markdown files on the computer without being locked by any external or paid provider. These notes can be synchronized through desktop or mobile devices with applications such as deCloud or Nextcloud, as well as with ownCloud. I ma using QOwnNotes already for masses of text based notes which sync via my NextCloud. QOwnNotes is an open-source tool for taking notes that integrates Nextcloud and ownCloud servers, thus allowing you to securely control all the notes on your device. QOwnNotes is an application for taking open source and cross-platform notes, with which we can create our own notes in plain text files, obtaining maximum freedom so that they are stored on our computer. Some like Microsoft’s Sticky notes don’t ‘stick’ on Linux. It got me thinking though about proper cross-platform syncing sticky notes (not note managers like Evernote, Google Keep, QOwnNotes). Cloud Sync Sync your data (notes, documents, bookmarks, etc. Dark Mode Google Keep supports dark mode for comfortable usage in low light conditions. Works Offline Google Keep can be used without the need to connect to the internet. I just had a fallout with KNotes ‘losing’ my few notes after an upgrade, and it was a major sweat to finally track down the notes saved in two Akonadi folders elsewhere. Handwritten Notes Google Keep supports writing by hand (or a stylus) and your text will be converted to text.
